Our artisan approach to building

Andrews & Mills Construction may be small in size, but throughout our nine-year history, we’ve managed to punch well above our weight in North Cornwall.

In that relatively short period, we’ve built a reputation for building services of the highest quality. Located in Wadebridge between the popular holiday towns of Padstow and Rock means we are well placed geographically to take on building work across Cornwall and Devon.

Such is the consistent strength in high-end building work, we work through a maximum of two projects per year. Typically, these properties will have a value in excess of £2 million. We also do little to no advertising of our company. Instead, we are recommended to clients through the architects designing the buildings. The company is artisan in its approach:
some of us are skilled cabinet makers for instance, so we utilise these skills when producing our own in house joinery items of the highest quality. We also produce on site concrete worktops/units and embrace bespoke ideas from clients and architects. These artisan services made to a high standard are ones that really set us apart from other companies.

Projects

In our projects, we oversee the majority of work carried out on site. Our core team of 17 will carry out everything from the grounds works to the finishing, with only the electrics and plumbing requirements sub-contracted out to a Cornwall- based partner firm we’ve used for many years.

Locally- sourced materials

A growing customer trend is the fact many people want locally- sourced materials to be used on their properties. Our location allows us to source all of our materials locally. For instance, we are situated close to a number of quarries which enables us access to high quality materials for our skilled stonemasons to work with. Alongside this, we also use slate materials from the world-renowned Delabole Slate quarry.

With a lot of emphasis placed on where materials have originate from, we have consistently looked local for our material needs and have a real authenticity in what we create. The fact our suppliers are local also allows us instant access to them and ensures we can turn around any queries or problems in quick time. A problem around granite sourced from Europe could result in a project being held up, but we are safeguarded from these predicaments.
